Mairangatia te Angitu was a two-day symposium that was co-designed with mana whenua, brought together rangatahi Māori from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Whānau Tahi and over 150 kaiako to share whakaaro, mātauranga, and resources to support ākonga Māori. The kaupapa-driven symposium came with an aspiration: to share successful strategies for Māori success and inspire kaiako to challenge themselves and apply their insights back in their kura.
The final hui for 2024 for the Grow Waitaha Kāhui Ako and Cluster Leaders Network was co-designed with mana whenua partners from Kōia te Mātauraka. The hui brought together 30 Kāhui Ako leaders, tumuaki, and across-school leads from across Waitaha to listen to Holly Bodman, who is a social sciences specialist, ‘Aunty Ally’, and curriculum facilitator from Kōia te Mātauraka with extensive experience in partnership with iwi and transformative teaching practices.
In this story, we’re celebrating the Grow Waitaha Learning Support Symposium that happened in November, and supported 50 learning support coordinators (LSCs) and special education needs coordinators (SENCOs) to implement systems and practices that foster safe and inclusive environments and empower them to lead others back in their learning environments.
